Lviv Hospital

The surgical building is a part of the medical complex. The project provides for passages connecting the building with neighboring blocks, as well as landscaping of the adjacent territory.

We arranged a spacious, light atrium in the building, which is the height of all six floors and topped with a light-transmitting roof. This solution allowed us to move away from the standard "corridor-camp" system of organizing space in hospitals, and to think of Lviv Hospital in a fresher way, referring visitors to the atmosphere of hotels and resorts rather than the oppressive hospitals of the old formation. In our vision, a harmonious architectural environment is a significant factor that shapes the atmosphere of medical facilities. This is what we focused on.

In addition to visually lightening the space, the atrium, which penetrates the interior of the building from the base to the ceiling at the level of the common roof, also performs a thermo-regulating function in the project - this is how we translate in the Lviv Hospital project the idea of the inseparability of aesthetics from the principles of sustainability and functional balance in modern architecture. Also included in the architectural composition of the exterior is the cantilever arc of the rooftop helipad for quick patient transportation.

There are 4 elevator shafts on the roof of the building. They protrude, making the building look like a fortress in a way. To visually soften this allusion, we rounded the corners of the elevator shafts and hid them behind vertical louvers that continue along the contour of the roof in a continuous line - in this way we conceal the technical elements, instead showing a rhythmic texture visually similar to the decoration of the facades.

The main entrance to the building stands out from the overall volume of the building with a minimalist, smoothly shaped canopy with built-in lighting. Behind its doors, we are greeted not by a cramped reception area with a vent, but by a spacious, welcoming lobby with a reception desk.

Panoramic glazing is an essential element of the project. It not only influences the appearance of Lviv Hospital's facades, but also largely determines the atmosphere in the interiors. We wanted to design a hospital where people would not feel restricted or even oppressed - on the contrary, it should be a harmonious, comfortable space filled with light, aesthetics and care for the patient.

We have created a park adjacent to the surgical building. For patients staying in the hospital, the opportunity to get out into the fresh air and walk among living greenery is important not only physically, but also emotionally. In our opinion, such areas should be an integral part of modern hospital projects, such as Lviv Hospital.

In a sense, when working on the Lviv Hospital project, we set ourselves the task of creating a hospital that corresponds as much as possible to its English-language name "hospital", derived from the word "hospitality", which means "hospitality, hospitality". The hospital of the 21st century is not just a place where people are treated. It is a place where human life, health and comfort are the highest values.
